What happened?

I know this is old news, but can someone explain to me what happened to Joaquin Phoenix? Was his transformation a publicity stunt or a nervous breakdown?

DrollGirl had a post on Scrappy Beards, and there was Joaquin.

I saw this photo and started laughing! Diddy looks scared of the unpredictable Joaquin. Doesn't Joaquin look a bit crazy?!

Dry Fire

My new favorite snack!

Take olive oil, sliced red, orange and/or yellow peppers, Mansmith's Dry Fire, throw them into a frying pan and cook on medium for a few minutes. It's soooooo good!

Thanks to my good friend Brian for introducing me to Dry Fire!!

Romance

I am a sucker for romantic movies. I just saw New Moon today, so much yearning, it's great!

These are a few of my favorites...

Shakespeare in Love - My favorite

A Lot Like Love

In the Mood for Love

This movie has some beautiful music... Yumeji's Theme, I like Invert's version best, I got it on iTunes.

Also, The Bridges of Madison County, City of Angels, Officer and a Gentleman, Romeo & Juliet (of course), The Notebook, Birth was romantic in a sad, weird sort of way, good music, I purchased the soundtrack for the wedding song, so lovely, but not included, also My Life without Me, was a sad sort of romantic film, and True Romance, romanitc and disturbing at the same time.

What else should I see?

December

One of the reasons I love December...
Peppermint!

Above items are from William Sonoma

The Häagen-Dazs is a new flavor and it is really good! They both are.

Am I missing any? Let me know if you have a favorite peppermint treat!

Platforms?

On my last day in NYC I tried on my first pair of platform shoes at Prada. I have seen them everywhere but had yet to try or buy some. I was told they are not as hard to walk in as they look, I disagree. I guess you need to get used to them.

The Prada store was like a museum, really beautiful.
There were some really odd shoes, these for example:

These from the Prada 2010 Resort Collection are fun!

I spent my last day walking around SoHo with Ana. It was really fun. We had delicious Pizza and Pinkberry , yum!
This was a really great trip. Thanks Ana for inviting me, and to Marcos for his hospitality! It was so much fun!

Another wonderful day

On my third day in NYC we decided to visit the Museum or Arts and Design. They had two interesting exhibits, Slash, Paper Under the Knife (Cut paper art) and Read my Pins, Madeleine Albright's pin collection. Both very interesting and worth seeing!

Then to The Plaza Hotel for lunch. Yum!

Then we walked all over 5th Avenue, Madison Ave., Park Ave., Bergdorf Goodman, Takashimaya, so many stores to see.

A visit to Dylan's Candy Bar, the world's largest candy store owned by Dylan Lauren, Ralph Lauren's daughter. Yum!!

Back home to rest from a day of walking all over the city.

A good way to end the day, dinner at Bar Artisanal.

Second day in NYC

Ana arrived in the morning, yea!. There was a museum exhibit we wanted to see so we went to The Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum on 5th Avenue. Wrong design museum, but it was still fun. We decided to visit The Museum of Arts & Design the next day. We walked all over the Upper East Side, went into a few shops and had pizza.

As we were heading back home, I almost knocked a really old man down the subway stairs with my pizza box. This was very traumatic for both the old man and myself! I barely tapped him, but he wasn't very stable and he was right at the edge of the stairs. I hate to even imagine what would have happened if...

We went back to Marco's and rested until it was time to leave for Wicked.

Loved it. As we were heading home we accidentally got onto a express train and missed our exit. Actually we left Manhattan, went over a bridge into Brooklyn. Whoops. By the time we got to our restaurant it was 11pm. But no problem, we are in NYC.

The Met

In order to fully see what The Met has to offer, you need many days. I knew that I would only have one day, so I had to choose which collections to visit. With two million square feet of museum space, and over three million works of art, I had to choose wisely.

I started with the Greek and Roman Art Gallery.

Sculptures in marble, bronze, limestone and terracotta fill the rooms. The earliest piece is a Kouros from 700 B.C.

Then I visited the European Paintings Galleries. With over 3,000 works to see, I spent a lot of time in the 70+ rooms.

Next was the visit to the Modern Art Galleries.

I realized I had been walking around for hours and was starving. There are six different dining facilities at The Met. This gives you an idea on how large the museum is.

After lunch I was re-energized, and made my way to visit the American Wing and Temple of Dendur.

I roamed around other areas, but there was so much that I didn't see that I need to go back soon! It is an amazing museum!

NYC

I am back from my Trip to NYC. It was so much fun!

I flew into JFK and took a cab into Manhattan. I stayed with my good friend's brother, Marcos. He lives in SoHo. He is in a perfect location, and lives in an art filled loft. It's lovely!

It is really fun to stay with him because he knows the city so well. My friend Ana wasn't due in until the next morning, so I had the day to spend roaming the city alone. I decided to visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Marcos let me know which subway to take. Off I went...
